Permanent Make-up Pre and Post Care Directions

Pre - Procedure Directions

1. Since delicate skin or sensitive areas may swell slightly (eyes and lips), some clients feel best not to make special social plans for a day or two following any procedure depending on the procedure. Vacations in the sun should be planned at least 2 weeks after procedure is done. Keep in mind that the colors will appear more intense until the peeling process is completed ( 5 to 10 days).

2. Wear your normal makeup and bring your favorite lipstick/liner, eyeliner, or brow pencil with you to your appointment.

3. Any tweezing, eyelash or eyebrow tinting or curling, false eyelashes, chemical peels, coloring hair, or waxing  etc. should be at least 48 hours prior day of scheduled procedure and no sooner than 2 weeks after procedure.

4. Do not wear contact lens during or immediately following the eyeliner procedure. Remember to bring your glasses and/ or schedule a ride home. You may resume wearing your contacts as soon as your eyes return to normal size (no swelling).

5. If you are having a lip procedure and have a history of cold sores/fever blisters/ herpes simples, you will be required to contact your physician to obtain the proper prescription for outbreaks. Start doses at least 3 days prior and one week after procedure. (Zoverax or equivalent)

6. Refrain from the use of alcohol, aspirin, Ibuprofen, Coumadin for 7 days before and 2 days after any procedure. Refrain from judgment altering drugs for at least 24 hours prior to any procedure. No medications should be discontinued without first consulting your physician.

7. Note that some may be more sensitive if they are on their menstrual cycle.

 Post Procedure Directions

FAILURE TO FOLLOW POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS MAY CAUSE LOSS OF PIGMENT, DISCOLORATION, OR INFECTION.

Immediately Following Cosmetic Procedure:

Redness and swelling is normal for a few days. Apply Ice in a clean sanitary bag to treated area for 10-30 minutes to reduce swelling and aid if needed. CALL ME AT THE FIRST SIGN OF ANY ABNORMAL INFLAMATION/SWELLING OR POSSIBLE INFECTION AT 816-392-2023 OR YOUR HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONAL. If lips breakout in fever blisters you will need to get a prescription immediately. Lysine from the health food store will help until then.

For 14 days following Cosmetic Tattoo Procedure:

  1. Do not expose treated area to the direct sun the first 14 days. Use sunglasses, hats and/or chapstick with at least a 30 sunscreen. Use sunscreen for the rest of your life on treated area. Direct sun fades it gradually.
  2. You may apply makeup around treated area 48 hours after procedure. Remove with Vaseline or antibiotic soap.
  3. Absolutely no cleansing creams or chemicals directly on area until healing is complete (30 days). Gently cleanse area with a mild antibacterial soap. Rinse by splashing with water and lightly pat dry, wait 15 minutes then apply bacitracin ointment lightly.
  4. No rubbing or scrubbing or picking or scratching. If itching take something like Benedryl at night to prevent scratching in your sleep and gently rub Vaseline or antibiotic ointment on with your finger. Scratch around area or lightly tap. Scabs that are picked of and that do not ready to come off naturally will pull color out of that area and leave uneven spots that will need touching up.
  5. Apply sparingly the  antibiotic ointment after cleansing for the first 48 hours and after that apply either antibiotic ointment or Vaseline until itching stops.
  6. Do not pick at the epithelial crust during the healing process or it can remove color.
  7. Do no expose treated area to full pressure of the water in the shower or immerse in chlorinated pool. Cover treated area with Vaseline or Bacitracine ointment  before exposing to water.
  8. Use caution when applying hair products ex hairspray.
  9. For lips procedures, careful eating salty, spicy foods. Lips will be chapped for a few weeks. During this time use Vaseline or vitamin e chap stick.
  10. The first night after the procedure you may want to sleep with a pillow covering that is washable in case there is any oozing.

Remember that colors appear brighter, darker, and more sharply defined immediately following the procedure. As the healing progresses, color will soften  (40 percent ) and look more natural. Do not freak out if color is dark the first week. LOL. Give it at least a week and do not pick the scabs!!!!!

Any touchup appointments should be scheduled 4 weeks following initial procedure. Do not hesitate to call me for a touchup.

I have read and fully understand the above instructions.
